Green Spaces in Myrtle Beach
At the State Park of Myrtle Beach you’ll find an entire mile of underdeveloped beach to explore! If you want to make it more than just a day trip, you have 6 cabins located just 200 yards from the beach, 278 campsites (138 of which have full-hookups of water, electricity & sewer) and 30 designated tent sites.
Fun things to do at the state park include crabbing & fishing at the pier, picnic shelters for group gatherings, kiddie programs about nature & wildlife, gift shop, self-led scavenger hunts, hitting the beach to look for shells and sharks teeth, or taking a stroll through the Sculptured Oak Nature Trail!

Heritage Shores Nature Preserve
Created in 2007 with 7 acres of walking paths, Heritage Shores Nature Preserve is located on an island that extends into the Cherry Grove Marsh. This land is preserved in its native state and is accessible by a series of elevated boardwalks and observation docks. Walk through this nature preserve to learn about the plants, animals, fishes and birds that can be seen in the park.
The park includes 2 picnic shaded shelters, a stationary boat dock providing access from the creek and 40 signs throughout about all the plants and wildlife.

Located just north of Myrtle Beach is Vereen Memorial Gardens, a hidden jewel right by the state line that’s been there for 30 years. The park is home to numerous hiking trails, boardwalks that extend over the marsh and a gazebo for bird watching over the Intracoastal Waterway! The park is free to get in and offers operations during daylight hours. Pack a picnic and enjoy looking at nature while sitting under their sheltered picnic tables.

Russell Burgess Coastal Preserve
The Preserve is a scenic overview of the picturesque Cherry Grove Marsh. The park provides paved parking and foot access to the inlet along with a boardwalk that was added in 2009 to maintain the Cherry Grove Marsh habitat. Fishing and crabbing are permitted from ground level but not from the pier structure.
